48 hours, one film and a hippo fish

Our entire Freelancers United team participated in the 48hrs Film Project in April 2026. 

Creating a complete short film in just one weekend. From genre selection to scriptwriting. From filming to editing. From poster design to behind-the-scenes. 

And here it is. Our mockumentary. With a genre like this, you choose a highly serious subject. So we chose the hippopotamus fish from the Okavango Delta in Botswana, reportedly spotted in Vreeland. That made perfect sense to us.

Two weeks later, we attended the screening and awards ceremony. Always an exciting moment. You know what you created. You know the amount of effort, editing hours, and shared meals that went into it. But then an audience full of people sees it too. We received beautiful recognition.

We feel proud of this achievement. Proud of the awards, of course. But mainly proud of the weekend itself. Of the quick decisions. The collaboration. The thinking along, carrying gear, acting, and adapting together.

This was exactly why we took part. To create something together. Under pressure. With joy. And with a result we fully stand behind.
